Band Boosters

Everyone Is A Booster!!!

How do you become a member of the Gulf High Band Boosters? All you need is a desire to support our students in any way you can! That’s it! There are many ‘behind-the-scenes’ tasks that need adults to take care of and we can use anyone willing to help to make our program the best it can be!

The Gulf High Band Boosters generally meet the second Thursday of every month at 6:30pm in the GHS Band Room. Important monthly information is given at every meeting and all parents are encouraged to attend each month to stay up to date on events.

‘RayJay’ Krewe

For the fourth year, the GHS Band Boosters will be working concessions at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa for various events (mainly Tampa Bay Buccaneers and USF games) throughout the year. Our booster program receive a portion of the profits made in the stand that we are assigned. We have been making a substantial amount of money for our program and we hope it continues! : )

Who can work the ‘RayJay’? Anyone 18 years or older can work. All Volunteers that are 18 years or older is required to attend a training through the stadium. The certification you receive from this training is good for 3 years!!!

How often do I have to work? That is totally up to you! As a Non-Profit Organization (NPO), we are required to have 15 or more people to work at the ‘RayJay’. Can we have more than that? SURE!!! There is NO LIMIT to how many we can have work. The more people that work, the more money we make!

How do I get there? We usually carpool with other parents to make the trip over to Tampa.

How long is one work day? The average work day can be a long one… usually about 8-10 hours. There is a lot of background work that has to be done before and after the event. But we have A LOT OF FUN!!! And the time goes by quickly because we have such a good time!

What does the money go toward? The money can go toward two things ONLY!!! As a volunteer, you will receive money per event and the money that you make can go toward your student’s share-fair assessment or toward a balance of an upcoming band trip (if the trip is taking place during that current year). You may not have to pay a thing for the entire school year for these items!!! Once you have paid off your assessment/trip, then all future monies will made to support the band program as a whole to help offset bills for band needs.

What do I have to wear? Closed toe shoes (black or white), khaki pants or shorts (no jeans!), no jewelry, long hair up in a bun, and a shirt to be worn under a uniform shirt that the ‘RayJay’ provides for us. That’s it! Please make sure you bring a cup with a lid to each event for drinks as well as your ID.

Please consider joining us at the ‘RayJay’ this year! We have a good time and it is basically ‘free’ money for our kids! If you have any other questions, please contact Mr. Rutherford.
